I have very VERY frizzy hair but its ashame as it is very long, past my chst infact but because its so wavy and frizzy mess. I straightened it lightly today useing my ex-ladys old straightening Rimmington irons. I only did the frindge and the curls at the bottom... It now looks great when slightly straightened but I am worried about if i do this twice a week or so, will it badly wreck my hair and make me loose loads?
And what is the best protection spray, also what are the differences between straightners, are some better for hair than others??
Also I always have to switch shampoo because of my head is fine then starts itching like madafter three month or so with every brand! I have just started using Johnsons no more tears detangleing shampoo and conditioner and it leaves my hair smelling nice and very soft. Was just wondering if this is giving my hair the goodness it needs seeing as its aimed at children?
Sorry for the many questions, but thanks for reading peeps!
How often can I straighten my hair without causeing damage and is there a way to lightly straighten it?
Doing anything but washing your hair, is considered bad or un-healthy for it.
But i suggest you put the setting of your straightener on a lower heat.
That will reduce to damage that can take place.
Straighteners----
You dont need a $100 one. Although they work pretty good. But i have a $20 one that works great. All you need is one to keep your hair striaght.. Nothing fancy. As long as you get a good brand like conair or remmington is pretty good, then you'll be fine.
The best protection spray... hmm.. i would have to go with biolage. they have a clear liquid in a small bottle that says "color care shielding shine mist" that protects your hair color really well.
I think you should get rid of the johnsons shampoo, it really is mainly for children so that it doesnt irritate their scalp at such a young age.
if you have dandruff, i suggest using head %26amp; shoulders shampoo, which works great. you just need it once a week.
%26amp; then the rest of the week i use either pantene or biolage. they work really well.
but the thing is-- your scalp gets used to a shampoo if you use it every day.. so that's why it is better to switch shampoos'/conditioners every time you take a shower, because your body remembers it %26amp; it doesnt show a greater impact on it's results.
It's the same thing with perfume. -if you wear the same scent every day your body gets used to it, %26amp; it doesnt hold it as good.
well i hoped this helped! :]

make sure you use some heat defying products everytime.
There is this one product i get from salons that sell l'oreal products called LISS control you apply to damp hair and then blow dry it and it should straighten itself out.

yes the shampoo is definately helping because it's so gentle.
buy any type of protection spray, they're all really good. i find a buying a leave in conditioner and using it every time your wash your hair really helps it leaves your hair much softer.
if you use the straighteners once going down the piece of hair slowly it's better than doing one piece of hair loads of times. and just try it out, if you get split ends get them trimmed off and just try to keep your hair in good condition. good luck!

* Wash and condition hair.
* Blot dry. Hair should be almost dry when you begin.
* Gather up hair into several sections and secure or clip hair on top of your head. You will be drying the bottom layers first.
* Follow the brush (with your dryer) down the sections of hair as you straighten each section and be sure to keep the dryer moving.
* Take down a new section of hair and procede as directed above.
* Work your way up the layers until all sections are dried and straightened.
* To curl the ends for a polished look, take your brush and pull the ends under. Finish your styling with a blast of cool air if your hairdryer has this capability.

There's no way you can use heat products on your hair and not damage it, but there's ways that you can definately reduce the damage. I actually use a Redken product called "Anti Snap." it's a leave in treatment for distressed hair like yours. It really helps the hair not to break when your using a flat iron. It's about 14$ at any department store! Also, the shampoos labeled "childrens" don't mean they're for children only. It just means they're mild enough so they're especially recommended for chilren. If you have a tender scalp, it's probably good you use a mild shampoo.

turn the straightener on the lowest setting. you could also use a leave-in conditioner right before you straighten your hair. or you could use one of those moisturizers that protect your hair from the heat of hair straighteners and blow dryers. Oh yeah for your second question. it's only for children because of the "no more tears" thing

Set a lower temp. on your straighteners and use a protection spray on your hair.

Tresemme do a good heat protection spray, I don't think you will do much damage if your using a spray and only straightening your hair twice a week. Have you tried Dove shampoo? That's good if you get an itchy scalp from using other shampoo or head %26amp; shoulders if you suffer from dandruff and that causes the itching.
If you dont want to use hair straigtners then last week i bought a straigtening balm which permanently straightens your hair. Its called Glatt, It has made my hair a little more porous but i know that with the use of intensive conditioners it will soon close up again, It feels like when it has been coloured at the moment but it has worked great. My hair is shiney and it hasn`t made it look flat, It still has lots of body in it. I would recommend it, You can buy the regular one or the extra strength but with your hair type if you buy the extra strength you should mix it with half the amount of an intensive conditioning treatment.

My hair was very wavy/frizzy and I would say first thing is first you need to have the dry ends cut off and you must keep getting this done every 3 months. Then try Boots Straighten costs aroung 鎷?5. I tried this and it is brilliant. Do it every 3 months or so. All I have to do when I have used this is give my hair a quick goin over with the hairdryer and then a quick wizz through with the straighteners. You will find that you don't have to straighten it everyday either. Hope this helps.

Johnson's is great for any hair type and you should change your shampoo every so often and if your only straightening twice a week that's fine but make sure you use a serum before blowdrying and a heat protection spray before straightening any brand will do....

I always had frizzy hair so can understand.
The less you straighten, the better. It does singe the hair.
Even the conditioner does not help hair.
As for irritation. There is a serum that Aveda has. Just check with them . It helps a lot.
Their leave in conditioners are great too.
It also gives protection when you iron the hair.
And use a mild shampoo. Once a week or maybe once in 2 weeks, massage hair with some olive oil.
Use a warm towel turban-like on the head after that.
Leave in the oil for an hour at least. More if you can.
Now shampoo off.
You need not condition after that.
Oil keeps hai better and scalp will feel good.
Then shampoo.
And BTW, curly hair is in vogue again.
So let it remain that way. And at times use an iron. for special occasions.
